Article IV: Dues
“Annually, on or before January 1, each local chapter shall provide to the Treasurer of the National Federation of the Blind of Oregon a current list of its members, their names and addresses, and their state dues. Upon request, a local chapter shall also provide the state President with a list of the names and addresses of the chapter members and with a detailed financial report of the chapter for the past year. The fiscal year of this organization shall be the calendar year.”

Remove the following provision;
“As new members enter local chapters, their names, addresses, and state dues shall be sent without delay to the Treasurer of the state organization.”

Explanation:
This will eliminate additional paperwork since chapters are already required to provide a current list of members, their contact information and dues annually.

Article XII: Dues
Remove the current language.
“The dues of this organization shall be $2.00 per year, payable in advance. In accordance with Article IV of the Constitution, local chapters shall pay the state dues of their members.”

Replace with
“The dues of this organization shall be $25.00 per chapter annually, payable to the state treasurer on or before the first of the calendar year.”

Explanation:
This will reduce paperwork and ensure that a strong connection between the local chapters and the state affiliate is maintained while ensuring that local chapters can continue to develop opportunities for their local chapter members.

Article XII Dues:

Remove:
“Members who are not affiliated with local chapters shall pay their dues before or during the annual convention.”

Replace with:
“Members who are not affiliated with local chapters or divisions shall pay $5.00 annually to the state treasurer at the annual convention or before January 1.”

Explanation;
This will make it clear what the dues will be for those not a member of a chapter or division.

Article XII Dues
Remove the Following:
“A lifetime membership may be secured for a fee of $100.00.”

Explanation:
This will make our membership requirements consistent with the National policies and make it easier to manage since membership does not transfer between chapters and affiliates. This will not impact current lifetime members of the Oregon affiliate.
