Southern Oregon Chapter
Meeting Minutes
September 2, 2023
Members in attendance:
Stephanie, Katie, Vivian, Marvin, Norman, Ax, John, Patrick,  and Don
Katie read the one minute message.
The national Federation of the blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise expectations, because low expectations create barriers to your dreams. You can live the life you want, blindness is not what holds you back.
The presidential release will be live on September 7. You can go to nfb.org
Vivian Reviewed the treasurers report. There is $1,042 in the checking and $56 in the savings account.
We received a$500  check from the dentist where we were going to have the car wash, but couldn't because of a  death. $6 came out for the pac plan.
Patrick motions to accept the report and John seconded. The report was accepted.
Vivian reviewed the minutes for the July meeting and Katie reviewed the August meeting minutes. John motions to accept the reports and Patrick seconded. The report was accepted.
State Convention:
The convention will be in Eugene at the Hilton Garden Hotel on October 6,7 and 8.
The room rates are $127  plus tax. The registration is $10 and the meal package is $50.
The chapter will cover one night of the hotel and the members will pay for registration and meal package. You need to REGISTER BY September 15.
There will be a grab and go breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. There will be an auction on Friday night. Please try and gather items for the auction and door prizes.
Saturday will be breakout sessions, including but not limited to, membership, able account, I phone accessibility in college.
The banquet will play heads or tail, give out the scholarships and the national rep. will speak.
Katie talked about having another open house for white cane day. We are looking at having it at the library on the 21st. Norman will print out fliers and we will talk mor about this at convention and our next meeting on October 14.
Vivian has a meeting Arby's to do a fund raiser.
Vivian suggested that we do something for low income families for the holidays.
