Meeting Minutes

August 6, 2022

Members in attendance:

Stephanie, Katie, Vivian, Mihn, Daniel, Corine, John, Norman, Ax, Marv

Vivian reviewed the minutes, from July.

Marv motion to accept the report, John seconded, it was accepted.

Mihn reviewed the treasurers report. Checking account balance $695 the
savings account $456 Katie motion to accept Norman seconded, it was
accepted.

Katie talked about the presidential release.

There is a survey at nfb.org asking how your convention experience went, in
person or virtual

National convention 2023 will be in Houston, TX July 1st-5th

2023.

In October for Blind achievement month presidential release they are looking
for affiliate, chapters or divisions to host the release live.

Stephanie talked about in person experience. There were about 2400 members
attending in person.

Kellogg platinum sponsor. They are putting a bar code on their boxes that
can be scanned by an app on your phone and reads all the information on the
box.

Netflix was also a sponsor. They talked about how they are making more audio
description movies available, with high quality. 

There is a pilot ride share program in the bay area in San Francisco with
driverless cars.

Stephanie, Katie and Mihn were on the committee to help plan state
convention.

We need to wear masks and a negative test or proof of vaccine. We need to
get Auction items for Friday night. We also need to get door prizes.

The hotel is $109per night. Stephanie's son will help with transportation if
people do not stay at the hotel.

Saturday morning there will be a general session with the state library,
Commission for the blind and others.

Someone is looking into getting the non partisan candidate for Governor,
Betsy Johnson to speak.

There will be breakout sessions in the afternoon.

We as the host affiliate, will be responsible for the grab and go breakfast
on Saturday and Sunday morning.  We need volunteers to be there to hand it
out. Stephanie will be in a meeting with the scholarship committee and can
NOT be there.

The cost of Banquet and registration will be announced later.

Sunday will be the business meeting and Elections. The president, vice
president, second vice president, Secretary, treasurer and two board
positions are up.

Mihn brought up the idea of self checkout and the accessibility issues there
are.

We will look into having a car wash on the 27th from 9-2. This will give us
exposure to the community so they can see blind people are capable of many
things. The date may change depending on availability of the spot we want.
So get some old towels, soap, rags and buckets. Plan on getting really wet
and have some fun!
