I can’t be at the meeting this week.  I’ve taken on a new role at the animal shelter, 10-2 on Saturdays.  I’ll be training a new person to take the shift some weeks, and will try to be free the third Saturday after this.  Have a great meeting!

Meeting Minutes February 19, 2022

                Kirk called the meeting to order at 10:30 AM. Members attending the meeting were Kirk & Cherri Wagner, Ryan McBee, Jerry Hathaway, and Joyce Green. We had a guest attending the meeting who is Patrick Wilkus, Oregon Disabilities Commission and is a member of the Southern chapter. We had introductions of persons attending the meeting. Patrick Wilkus gave a very nice presentation on how he applied to be a member of the Oregon Disabilities Commission and his experiences working with the Commission. After his presentation members asked him questions about being on the Commission. Joyce Green made a motion to have the minutes of our January chapter meeting approved as circulated with Cherri Wagner seconding the motion and the motion was passed by the members attending the meeting. Cherri Wagner gave the Treasurer’s report with a beginning balance of $971.00 and the ending balance is $1,098.71. Kirk will be send a thank you note to Joyce Green’s friend who sent a donation to the chapter. Jerry Hathaway made a motion to have the Treasurer’s report approved as read with Joyce Green seconding the motion and the motion was passed by the members attending the meeting. Ryan McBee gave report on Washington Seminar and other members who attended also made comments on Washington Seminar. Ryan also explained about the creation of the sixth district that will be created next year. Cherri & Kirk Wagner gave an update on the status on moving the chapter checking account to a different banking service. Kirk gave an update about Oral Hall and maybe doing a joint presentation about the NFB with Vancouver chapter in the future and that he plans to attend one of their business meeting. Kirk suggested we table talking about Newsline to next month since Carolyn Brock was not able to be at our meeting. Kirk told us if we have suggestions of other persons or groups we can have guest speakers to give presentations he will be appreciate to hear about them. Kirk informed us about a group is looking for impute dealing with the new interstate bridge proposal on the design of the bridge and that there is a questionnaire survey that can be submitted by concern persons who will be using the bridge including blind commuters. Kirk said that he will put a link to the survey on our listserve and also send it to Portland Central chapter president. Cherri Wagner found the list of directors for Oral Hall and she read the list of directors to us. Kirk tried to play the Presidential release on his Victor stream player since his NLS player is being replace due to battery problems, but the Victor player was not loud enough to be able to hear it. Kirk hopes to have something to play the Presidential release at our next chapter meeting. Kirk adjourn the meeting.
