We had a guess who is Kristen Jocums, Chapter President of Linn-Benton Chapter. Joyce Green made a motion to have the minutes from our August chapter meeting that were distributed with Carolyn Brock seconding the motion and the minutes was passed by the members attending the meeting. Joyce Green gave the Treasurer’s report with a beginning balance of $886.00 and the ending balance is $874.00. Cherri Wagner made a motion to have the Treasurer’s report be approved as read with Mary Ann Mendez seconding the motion and the motion was passed by the members attending the chapter meeting. Kirk asked Jack & Mary Ann Mendez on the to see where are on the Newsline awareness project. Mary Ann Mendez told the chapter that she will be sending the e-mail letter to Scott and a copy to Kirk on Monday. The letter has questions that the chapter in regard to how Newsline is being used in Oregon and other questions dealing with demographics the use of Newsline and how we might make it better for blind Oregonian’s. Kirk asked Mary Ann if she will call Scott if she does not hear from him within two weeks. We then had a discussion about Newsline and trying to get the State library for the Blind and the Commission for the Blind to put information about Newsline in their newsletters. We decided to table putting out the radio spots at this time and use a later date to use them to get out information about blindness. Kirk gave an Update on Oral Hull Foundation and Learning Center and the Putt Putt fund raiser. The members present also voted to donate $50 to sponsor a hole at the Hull Foundation and Learning Center putt putt fundraiser. We then had a discussion about Oral Hull Putt Putt fund raiser and our future participation with Oral Hull activities in the future. Kirk gave us information about state convention and the State board will be having a meeting to discuss more details about state convention and he will let us know at our next chapter meeting. Joyce brought up that we need to consider ways to bring more funds into our chapter. Kirk played the Presidential release for September. Kirk adjourned the meeting.

Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
