NFB of Oregon Rose City Chapter
Minutes January 21, 2021

Kirk called the virtual meeting to order at 10:30 AM. Members attending the meeting are Kirk & Cherri Wagner, Ryan McBee, jerry Hathaway, Joyce Green, Carolyn Brock, & Jack & Mary Ann Mendez. Joyce Green made a motion to approve the December minutes as distributed with Carolyn Brock seconding the motion and the motion was passed by the members attending the meeting. Joyce Green gave the Treasurer’s report with a beginning balance of $1,084.44 and the ending balance is $1,047.44. Cherri Wagner made a motion to have the Treasurer’s report approved as read with Jack Mendez seconding the motion and the motion was passed by the members attending the meeting. Joyce brought the subject about dues roll over month and that she would like us to have dues be paid at the beginning of February and that when we have a new Treasurer next year we can have a discussion weather to change the month that dues will be need to be paid to the chapter. Kirk told us that he has received the masks and that he will be mailing them to the members. Kirk played the Presidential release for January. We had a discussion about Washington Legislative seminar & Oregon Legislative seminar. Kirk brought up that National convention might be virtual in July and the idea of chapters meeting together for some of the meetings and members gave their opinions about options in meeting together as a chapter during National Convention. Kirk asked Jack if he has been able to get in touch with National Newsline persons to get information about inquiry dealing with Newsline in Oregon. Jack has not been able to get in touch with National at this time & he will keep trying to get in touch with them. Jack read the questions about Newsline to the chapter members. We will still keep working on the Newsline awareness issue in Oregon. Members gave their impressions & thoughts about the Braille Monitor article “Blindness: Is the Public Against Us?” by Kenneth Jernigan April 2020 issue. Kirk suggested that we bring up more articles from the Braille Monitor as we read that will be good for the chapter to have a discussion about it. Kirk adjourned the meeting.

You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
